Young Adult novels or YA are the most popular of the three genres since nearly everyone over the target age of 13 to 19 reads them. These novels are generally trying to mature readers by moving them from children's books into more adult content books. Usually, YA varies in novel size, but the typical word count is 55,000 to 90,000 words. Since Young Adult books are more mature, their themes follow a stronger main protagonist with a goal in mind that typically results in them digging deeper into finding themselves.
