Summary: The final book in the Kingdom Keepers Inheritance series has Eli and his friends facing an unknown threat as Disney villains are disappearing from parks across the globe. With the villains nowhere to be found, the Disney parks slowly begin to close their gates causing their magic to begin to fade. Faced with the grim reality of a world without the joy and wonder of Disney, Eli and his friends, known as the Kingdom Kids, find themselves in a position they never imagined they would be in: they must embark on a daring mission to bring the villains back. This unexpected turn of events forces the group to change their perceptions of good and evil, as they realize that the villains, despite their nefarious reputations, are integral to the very fabric of the Disney experience. Finding out Ursula has convinced all the villains to join her to take down the Disney parks once and for all, the Kingdom Kids are given a riddle by Tiana to solve that leads them along a trail to discover something none of them thought to be possible. As the series comes to a close Eli and his friends are faced with the ultimate challenge: to restore the joy and wonder of Disney or risk the parks never opening their gates again.
As the story reaches its conclusion, readers are left with a sense of hope, adventure, and the enduring belief that magic, no matter how threatened, can always be revived through courage and friendship.
Suggested age rating: 9+ based on minor action and fighting sequences and the use of light and dark magic.
Review: As I began another book in the Kingdom Keepers series, I was eager to see how the author would conclude a series that spanned two decades. I'm pleased to report that he did an outstanding job, using the previous novel to build up to this ultimate conclusion while giving it a feel of the originals in the series while keeping it unique. Additionally, the book featured the original Kingdom Keepers, allowing both old and new readers to appreciate their involvement with their children without overshadowing their children's roles and accomplishments. Although the book had many highlights, there were a couple of aspects I wished had been different, such as the choice of Ursula as the main villain, given her prominent role in the previous series. Despite this drawback, and although the novel could have been longer to provide a more comprehensive ending with the original Kingdom Keepers fighting alongside their children in the final showdown, the book delivered in all the right ways for this Kingdom Keepers fan. As I finished the final book in the Kingdom Keepers series, I couldn't help but appreciate how the author demonstrated the necessity of villains in storytelling, reminding readers that without them, there would be no heroes. Thus, this final novel in the Kingdom Keepers Inheritance series was undoubtedly my favorite, and I strongly encourage any fans of Disney and the original novels to read this book, as it does not disappoint.
